As the second in line to succeed Queen Elizabeth II, William is following in the footsteps of his father, Charles, Prince of Wales. Middleton grew up in Chapel Row, a village near Newbury, Berkshire, England, and studied art history at the University of St Andrews in Scotland, where she met William in 2001.
The couple announced their engagement on November 16, 2010, and were married on April 29, 2011, at Westminster Abbey. The Duke and Duchess have two children, Prince George of Cambridge and Princess Charlotte of Cambridge, who are third and fourth in line to the British throne, respectively. Kate’s influence on fashion has been dubbed the “Kate Middleton effect” by the media, and she has been named one of the “100 Most Influential People in the World” by Time magazine in both 2012 and 2013.
